The new iPad Pro models set for release next month may be Apple's first devices with an M4 chip, according to a new report from Mark Gurman.
I'm hearing there is a strong possibility that the chip in the new iPad Pro will be the M4, not the M3. Better yet, I believe Apple will position the tablet as its first truly AI-powered device — and that it will tout each new product from then on as an AI device. This, of course, is all in response to the AI craze that has swept the tech industry over the last couple years.
The M4 chip is expected to feature a new neural engine that will enable AI driven capabilities, many of which will likely be unveiled at WWDC 2024. To bring these capabilities to Mac, Apple could begin upgrading macOS devices with the new M4 chip starting later this year.
A special 'Let Loose' event has been announced for May 7, 2024. This virtual event will likely see the debut of both new iPad Pro and iPad Air models.
The new iPad Pro models are allegedly codenamed J717, J718, J720 and J721, and will likely feature an OLED display, a landscape Face ID camera, and support for a redesigned Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.
The new iPad Air will purportedly get an upgraded processor and a new larger 12.9-inch screen size option.
