AltStore PAL Offers Alternative to App Store in the EU

Riley Testut has announced the launch of 'AltStore PAL,' an alternative app marketplace to the Apple App Store in the EU.
Europeans running iOS 17.4 or later can now install AltStore PAL directly from the AltStore website, bringing entirely new apps to iOS for the first time ever — including, of course, Delta. This has been a personal dream of mine ever since I started building emulators for iOS over a decade ago, and is what my co-founder Shane Gill and I have been working towards since launching AltStore almost 5 years ago. It truly doesn't seem real that starting today people can finally use Delta as a real app, and I can't wait for y'all to experience it
AltStore PAL arrives with two apps: the all-in-one Nintendo emulator 'Delta,' and 'Clip,' a clipboard manager that can run in the background. Delta is free, with no ads, and Clip requires a small donation of €1 or more. Once the store is running smoothly, the doors will be opened to third-party apps. If you're interested in distributing your app with AltStore, you can send an email to apps@altstore.io for more information.
Apps on AltStore are self-hosted. To distribute with AltStore, developers will need to create a 'source', which is just a json file containing their app metadata. Users can then add this source to AltStore to reveal the apps available to download. Since there is no central directory of apps in AltStore, you'll only see apps from sources you've added. Developers will need to self-promote their apps and direct users to add their source.
For developers looking to monetize their apps, AltStore has added deep Patreon integration. Developers can choose to offer some (or all) of their apps to just their patrons, and even control which tiers unlock which apps on a per-app basis. AltStore says it will take no commission on Patreon donations.
Notably, Apple does not waive its Core Technology Fee for marketplaces. This means AltStore needs to pay Apple €0.50 for every install. To afford this, AltStore PAL will cost users €1.50/year.
