Users Report USB Hub Issues Following macOS Sonoma 14.4 Update

Numerous users are reporting USB hub issues, particularly with monitors that have USB ports, following the macOS Sonoma 14.4 update.

I have my MacBook (MacBook Pro 16 M2 Pro) connected to my monitor (Gigabyte M34WQ 34 Inch IPS Ultrawide WQHD (3440 x 1440)) via a thunderbolt 3 cable. I have my keyboard and mouse connected to the USB ports in my monitor. After updating, my keyboard and mouse are no longer being detected on my MacBook.
A number of other users are experiencing the same issue.
@balcanactx: I am having the same issue with my dual Dell ultrasharp monitors. The USB ports stopped working after the update to 14.4. If I plug in another USB-C hub to the Mac Studio, USB ports work... Strange issue but definitely caused by the 14.4 update.
@dead-4-dead: Same here. I have a Logitech USB receiver plugged into my Dell U3219Q monitor to connect my keyboard + mouse, and I use a USB-C cable to connect to my MacBook. I just updated my work MacBook (14" M2 Pro) to Sonoma 14.4 and it stopped recognizing USBs plugged into the external monitor. My personal MacBook (14" M1 Pro) running Sonoma 14.3.1 and it's working perfectly.
For some users, the issue can be resolved by temporary switching the "Allow accessories to connect" in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
@karamelo69: I solved that issue by changing the allow accessories to connect to always allow and then changing back to ask for new accessories, under system settings -> privacy and security -> allow accessories to connect.
Alternatively, you could try navigating to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Allow accessories to connect and set the dropdown to "Ask Every Time". Disconnect the external USB hub then reboot and reconnect the hub.
Apple may address this issue with a minor software update. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS to be notified when macOS updates are released.
