Apple is planning to introduce a new always-on display for the iPhone 14 Pro and bring back the classic battery indicator, according to a MacRumors source.
When enabled, the always-on display will purportedly darken your selected lock screen wallpaper and dim the foreground. Additionally, the foreground elements will may be tinted with color and feature edge highlights depending on your customization.
Users will not be able to configure content on the always-on lock screen separately from the fully illuminated lock screen. However, the site says the core visual elements of the always-on display can be independently customized.
Notifications are expected to roll in from the bottom and remain subtly visible on the always-on lock screen for about ten seconds. When the display is woken up, the notifications will animate from the bottom to appear how they normally present on the lock screen (count, stack, or list).
Finally, Apple could allow users to enable a notification counter at the bottom of the always-on lock screen.
Looking at the lock screen status bar, Apple will allegedly move the cellular signal indicator to the left side and re-implement its classic battery indicator, showing percent charged to the left of the battery icon.
Besides these lock screen predications, a few other iPhone 14 Pro details emerged this week. Several reports claim Apple plans to turn off the pixels between the iPhone 14 Pro's pill and hole cutouts during use, turning them into 'one wide pill'. Apparently, the company plans to use the space between the cutouts to display privacy indicators.
Apple is set to unveil its new iPhone 14, 'iPhone 14 Plus', iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max at an upcoming 'Far Out' special event on September 7. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for full event coverage.
