Apple has asked Foxconn to start recruiting for iPhone 14 production two months earlier than normal, according to a new report from UDN. The move comes as Apple tries to avoid supply chain interruptions caused by China's COVID lockdowns and shortages.
UDN says Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant started interviewing workers yesterday and is offering a bonus of RMB 5,500. The plant is already short on manpower and Apple has purportedly shifted more orders to the company as its closed-loop system has overcome some lockdown restrictions.
The site also says Apple hopes to start building up stock of the iPhone 14 two months earlier.
People close to Foxconn believe that based on Apple’s current production capacity concerns, the iPhone 14 series will be stocked at least two months earlier this year, and it is expected that the iPhone 14 stock will be higher than the 30 million iPhone 13 this year to cope with the sudden supply chain risk.
