New Face ID With Mask Feature Only Works on iPhone 12 or Newer

Posted January 28, 2022 at 4:00am by iClarified
Apple introduced a new feature in iOS 15.4 beta that lets Face ID work with a mask.

Notably, this feature is only available to users with an iPhone 12 or newer. That means that if you have an iPhone X, iPhone XS, or iPhone 11, you'll need an Apple Watch to unlock your device via Face ID.

It's unclear why Apple has limited the feature to the iPhone 12 or if this could change in future betas.

If you have an older iPhone you can just trade in and upgrade to a newer one

That's almost 2 years late. Why not releasing it when the pandemic is over.
