Apple has started assembling its new iPhone 16e in Brazil, according to a recent report from MacMagazine.
In a post yesterday, the site confirmed the news with an image of a Brazilian-purchased iPhone 16e featuring the following label:
FABRICADO NO BRASIL POR: FOXCONN BRASIL INDÚSTRIA E COMÉRCIO LTDA., CNPJ: 08.285.374/0002-93, Inscrição Estadual: 407.457.979.117 Av. País de Fabricação: Brasil. Indústria Brasileira.
That translates to:
MANUFACTURED IN BRAZIL BY: Foxconn Brasil Indústria e Comércio Ltda., CNPJ: 08.285.374/0002-93, State Registration: 407.457.979.117 Av. Caminho de Goiás 100, Bairro dos Fernandes, ZIP Code: 13214-870, Jundiaí – State of São Paulo – Brazil. Warranty Period: 1 year from date of purchase. Expiration Date: Not applicable. Country of Manufacture: Brazil. Brazilian Industry.
The box also clearly states "Assembled in Brazil" in English.
Additionally, MacMagazine notes that certification published by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) now confirms local production.
Apple's heavy reliance on China for manufacturing has left it especially vulnerable amid the ongoing trade war with the United States. While President Trump has reportedly granted the company an exemption from 245% tariffs for now, it's unclear whether that exemption is permanent. Apple is said to be ramping up production in other countries to mitigate risk—making the increased output in Brazil a potentially strategic move.
