iPhone 12 Won't Support 120Hz Refresh Rate [Report]

Apple's next generation iPhone lineup will not support a 120Hz refresh rate due to battery life considerations, according to a new report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst now expects 120Hz to debut in 2021 with lower-power LTPO display technology.

Kuo also notes that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will have a slightly narrower notch to leave enough room for display information on either side of the notch. The 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models are said to have the same size notch as the iPhone 11.

As previously rumored, all four models are said to support 5G with two versions of each model being sold. There will be both sub-6GHz-only and sub-6GHz-plus-mmWave versions of the 5.4-inch iPhone 12, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. Kuo says the sub-6GHz-only versions will ship first.

Apple is holding a special 'Time Flies' event tomorrow at which the company is expected to unveil new Apple Watches and iPads. The next generation iPhone will likely be unveiled in October.
