TechCrunch
The iMac remains a great entry-level desktop, for those who'd rather not be bothered buying an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, et al. It's also an ideal system for IT departments to deploy at scale in offices — or for the aforementioned dentist front desk. It's a big upgrade for those with an older Intel system, but anyone who has bought an iMac since 2021 needn't bother with an upgrade. It's not going to make a huge difference for daily tasks, and those who are excited to try Apple Intelligence will be able to on any Mac with an M1 or later.

MacWorld
If you have an Intel iMac and you've been putting off an upgrade, now's the time to do it. You're going to see a vast performance improvement, you can use Apple Intelligence, and you're going to appreciate the many other changes. You will have to buy USB-C adapters for your USB-A device, though. There's one reason for not buying the M4 iMac: you want a bigger one. Rumor has it that it could appear in 2025 but we've not heard of any substantial reports of such an iMac. If that's what you really want, you'll have to continue to hold out and track the rumors.

The iMac is so good that I wish we didn't live in a world where most of our computers are laptops. Desktop computers can be great, but these days they're a niche device. Fortunately, sometimes what you want is to plop down a Mac with a big screen in a particular place, and let it do its job. And if you want that Mac to be purple, or blue, or orange, or whatever, the M4 iMac will be up to the challenge.

PCMag
The Apple iMac (2024, M4) is the most colorful member of the Mac family, but the addition of the M4 chip makes it a capable workhorse, too. From the above-average performance and beautiful display to the extras, including an extended, color-matched keyboard and the nano-textured screen glass, this iMac steps up the classic Apple all-in-one to a new level.

TechRadar
The iMac with M4 doesn't disappoint on performance, and while the scores aren't night and day over the M3 variant, those with an M1, especially if you have an Intel-powered iMac, will be ripe for an upgrade and reap the benefits of fast, zippy speed. And considering the price drop of $100 / £100 / AU$200, it's kind of a steal for a brand-new Apple product.
