Apple Says New iPhone SE is Assembled in India for Local Customers

Apple has issued a statement confirming the second generation iPhone SE is now being assembled in India for local customers, reports Times of India.
Apple iPhone SE was launched on April 15 and comes at a starting price of Rs 42,990, making it the cheapest iPhone one can buy in India. The assembly of the iPhone SE is already underway and the units assembled in India are expected to hit the markets really soon. iPhone SE is being assembled in India by Wistron at its facility in Bengaluru. As of now, Wistron also assembles the iPhone 7 at its facility in Bengaluru.
Here's Apple's statement confirming assembly in the country:
"iPhone SE packs our most powerful chip into our most popular size at our most affordable price and we’re excited to be making it in India for our local customers."
TOI suggests that assembly of the iPhone SE in India could have an impact on prices but that's yet to be seen.
