Apple has set theatrical release dates for three original films ahead of their launch on Apple TV+, reports Variety.
Anthony Mackie's "The Banker will hit theatres on December 6th and reach Apple TV+ subscribers in January. Minhal Baig's "Hala" will open on November 22nd and arrive on Apple TV+ in December. "The Elephant Queen" opens in theaters October 18th and will be available when Apple TV+ launches in November 1st.
These films will only play in select cities; however, Apple appears to be eyeing bigger releases as well. The company has held introductory talks with NATO, the trade group representing AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas, and others. Its pitch could be summed up as, "We don’t want to be Netflix.", said a source. Netflix typically refuses to make subscribers wait before being able to watch its original films.

The Banker The true story of Bernard Garrett and Joe Morri, two African American men who back-channeled their way to real estate holdings and bank ownership that allowed their communities to flourish under rampant systemic racism.
Hala Meet 17-year-old Hala (Geraldine Viswanathan), who struggles to balance being a suburban teenager with her traditional Muslim upbringing. As she comes into her own, Hala finds herself grappling with a secret that threatens to unravel her family.
The Elephant Queen Embark on an epic journey of family, courage, and coming home. Join Athena, the majestic matriarch, as she leads her elephant herd across an unforgiving African landscape. Narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor. Official selection of TIFF and Sundance.
