2019 iPhone Predicted to Feature Smaller Notch, Under Display Touch ID, USB-C Port

Apple's next generation iPhone will feature a smaller notch, an under display Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and a USB-C port, according to Atherton Research analyst Jean Baptiste.

In a research note shared by Forbes, Baptiste says that Apple failed to admit the real reason iPhone sales stumbled in the holiday quarter.

With the latest iPhone X lineup, Apple is selling yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices and consumers are beginning to realize that.

As usual, Apple is expected to introduce new iPhone features in 2019 but Baptiste believes that the device will have a high price tag and lack some of the things customers are looking for.

"Although we believe that Apple will release a re-designed iPhone X in 2019—with a smaller notch, a fingerprint reader (Touch ID) under the display, and a USB-C port—it will still lack the extensibility (memory card), the battery life, the lightning-fast charging capability, and the camera quality of Android flagship smartphones while being more expensive."

Atherton suggests Apple should focus delivering innovation rather than raising its prices.

The price for Apple's flagship phone has shot nearly 47% in 3 years, from $749 to $1,099—to compensate for its declining sales.

P.S. USB C plugs? Great, now we can all buy brand new cables, charging stations and accessories all over again. I like the added speed on my Mac mini, but it’s a new device and I hadn’t invested in a lot of stuff for it yet.

I think Apple’s problems are bigger than a notch/no-notch at this point, but they’ve supposedly resolved the issues which killed touch screens before, and its being offered (supposedly) as an either/or. Apple presumably has been working on some new features this past year, while raising prices for dropping sales—which has only hastened their sales decline—meaning Apples long-term plan to grow into new markets is essentially a failure. So it’ll be interesting how they’ll price next year’s phone, or whether they double-down on this year’s colossal mistakes.

Let’s put it in simple terms which most agree. NO NOTCH!! WHY TOUCH ID AGAIN?? To make the phone fatter than the iPhone XR? Then again I’m sure they sticking to the iPhone X design anyways and charge us a kidney for it.

Not Worth spending that crazy amount of dollars on what’s still the same iPhone as yesteryear, simply ridiculous. Apple seriously needs to revamp their thinking and strategy before they get another big hit. I mean, bending ipads, no support of Apple Pencil 2 to older iPads, same design of iPhone X is just unbearably annoying. Why don’t Apple listen to what people want? And people want the 5s look on the current iPhone. Smaller bezel, no protruding camera, usb-c and support for Apple Pencil 2 to older iPad devices with a separate charging device which we are more than happy to buy instead of buying a whole new iPad an Pencil just to get the fractures of the pencil 2. Come on Apple, lift your game!!!
