Samsung Uses Stock DSLR Photo to Fake Portrait Mode Camera Results

Samsung has been caught using a stock DSLR photo to fake results of its Portrait Mode camera feature on the Galaxy A8 Star. Sadly, it's not the first time the company has misled customers like this.

In a post on DIYPhotography.net, photographer Dunja Djudjic reveals that her photo was posted to EyeEm.com and likely sold via a partnership the site has with Getty.com. In addition to tweaking her hair, skin, and eyes, she was cut out of the original background and photoshopped onto another photo of a park.

Whoever created this image, they also cut me out of the original background and pasted me onto a random photo of a park. I mean, the original photo was taken at f/2.0 if I remember well, and they needed the “before” and “after” – a photo with a sharp background, and another one where the almighty “portrait mode” blurred it out. So Samsung’s Photoshop master resolved it by using a different background.

After getting called out, Samsung added an "*image simulated for demo purposes" disclaimer below the photo.

What can one expect from Samsung? Even the top level person is/was caught for cheating. What do you expect the company culture to be like if the head is a cheater?
