Intel may launch three new Arrandale-based Core i5 and Core i7 processors on January 3rd, according to Fudzilla.
The Core i5 520M has two cores, four threads, 3MB of cache, a base frequency of 2.4GHz, Turbo Mode, and will sell for $225.
The Core i5 540M has two cores, four threads, 3MB of cache, a base frequency of 2.53GHz, Turbo Mode, and will sell for $257.
The Core i7 620M has two cores, four threads, 4MB of cache, a base frequency of 2.66GHz, Turbo Mode and will sell for $332.
The chip prices are based on quantities of 1,000. Their TDP ratings (including the graphics core) are 35W which matches the current processors used in the MacBook Pro. This means Apple could use them for a hardware refresh.
I am planning on buying a macbook pro in the very near future, so should i wait now that a new processor is coming out, or just go ahead and buy one now?
Rick, what's your point? This article only stated that the new processors might look good to Apple since the power requirements of these new processors will match what's currently in the MacBook Pro. No one said this was new or innovative. Who cares what Alienware has been using.
