Samsung to Resume Producing Chips for the iPhone Next Year [Report]

Samsung will resume production of chips for the iPhone starting next year, according to a new report from The Korean Herald. The company lost orders to TSMC in 2013.

According to news reports on July 18, Samsung recently purchased extreme ultra violet lithography machines, the most advanced chip manufacturing equipment, to produce seven-nanometer mobile processors solely for iPhone.

It's said that Kwon Oh-hyun, one of Samsung’s three co-CEOs, was vital in closing deal during a visit to Cupertino last month.

“The CEO could persuade Apple’s top brass taking advantage of their close ties on OLED,” said an industry source.

Samsung is reportedly the exclusive supplier of OLED displays for the iPhone 8; however, TSMC managed to win chip orders for the new smartphone by adopting 7nm technology earlier than its rivals. Next year both companies are expected to share chip orders.

So Samsung learnt it lesson with the CPU debacle back then, huh? Those massive orders from Apple can't be ignored for as long as companies meet their strict quality requirements. If they didn't learn a thing, orders shall be dropped with Samsung itself altogether.

If the screen , Chip from Samsunge and the rest from other companies so what Apple doing ?? R we buying apple products cuz they just made the housing design?

You do realise all companies including Samsung don’t make the majority of their components for their smartphones
