Turner Launches Complete Redesign of TBS and TNT Streaming Apps

Turner has begun issuing major updates to its streaming apps for iOS, Apple TV, Android, and Amazon Fire, as well as to the tbs.com and tntdrama.com websites. Additionally, TBS & TNT are expanding with app launches available today on Roku devices and Google Chromecast, as well as on VIZIO SmartCast devices.
The new apps have been completely redesigned and incorporate Vizbee technology for casting from a mobile device to smart TV without any additional hardware required.
The Vizbee integration allows the TBS and TNT apps to identify what streaming media players are near the viewer and prompts them to choose where they would like to watch the content.
The apps also feature "instant-on" access and pre-login "freeviews" for major programming events.
The "instant-on" feature allows users to watch premium content as soon as they open the app or website. With "freeviews," first-time users are able to watch up to five minutes of any on-demand program or 10 minutes of any live event, including sports, before being asked to sign in to an authenticated account.
Other improvements include Spotlight, which lets allows limited sampling across the two networks by offering some TNT content on the TBS app and some TBS content on the TNT app. Additionally, users can switch from one device to another without losing their place in a program. There's also improved deep linking between social media, interactive ads and other digital media.
"By eliminating friction points between television, mobile and digital screens, we've created a completely fluid viewing experience," said Karina Kogan, senior vice president of digital media and products for TBS & TNT. "And in doing so, we've taken a giant step toward achieving our primary goal of giving viewers more control than ever before in deciding how, when and where they can enjoy their favorite shows, sports and major events."
