Samsung Won't Unveil the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress This Year

Samsung has revealed that it won't be unveiling the new Galaxy S8 smartphone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year. In previous years, the company used the event to launch its next generation flagship.

The news follows Samsung's explanation of the battery problems that caused the Galaxy Note 7 to explode. The company has put procedures in place to prevent the same issues from happening with the S8.

According to Reuters, Samsung mobile chief Koh Dong-jin told reporters that the Galaxy S8 would not launch at MWC this year in a press briefing.

Koh said the Galaxy S8 would not be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona beginning Feb. 27, the traditional forum for Galaxy S series launches. He did not comment on when the company planned to launch the handset, though analysts expect it to start selling by April.

Samsung has to wait for more iPhone leaks before they release anything. This is so that they can fire up their copying skills. Otherwise the S8 is going to look like their S7.

I myself am an iPhone user... but I have to admit the Samsung does pack a punch. iPhone has really fallen behind, the phone and overall customer experience with Apple is a bag of w**k... Tim Cook is really killing off apple enthusiasts. I used to be an avid apple fan... but slowly I'm wandering over to the android side. Just so you know it's my personal opinion.

Ah, increased performance, better in every way, and even bigger explosions. Hopefully they're planning to figure out what's wrong with it before they release it.

of course every device need to go through testing process before. Samsung may be down but not out. watch out for s8.
