Microsoft has unveiled a new Surface Studio desktop computer featuring a 28-inch display that folds down to the same angle as a drafting board.
Surface Studio is a new class of device designed for how people naturally create and bring ideas to life. The 28-inch PixelSense Display immerses the user in 13.5 million pixels of pure, true-to-life color, and the Zero Gravity Hinge allows the screen to effortlessly adjust to each stage of the creative process. When the screen transitions from Desktop Mode to Studio Mode, it sits at a 20-degree angle, the same angle as a standard drafting board, making it ideal for sketching, writing and designing.
The Surface Studio uses 6th Generation Intel Core processors accelerated by a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GPU for deliver smooth and immersive graphics performance and the power to run professional programs such as Siemens’ NX software.
"Now architects can sketch their ideas with the Surface Pen, put them into production using powerful 3-D modeling software, and review and mark up plans with a client, all on one device."
Surface Studio starts at $2,999 estimated retail price (ERP) USD. It is available for pre-order today in the U.S. through Microsoft Stores, MicrosoftStore.com and BestBuy.com, and will begin shipping in limited quantities this holiday with broader availability in early 2017.

I watched the presentation, and as a Graphic Designer and Video Editor using only Apple products I have to say this is something worth looking at. I am hoping that because MS made the hardware and OS that it is more stable and crash free. Apple really needs to start thinking differently. They have brought out the same products for years now. Other companies have way better hardware but the one and ONLY thing that differs is that Apple has a really solid OS - or do they.
So this is more for graphic artists? A normal consumer won't need to have the screen brought down to 20 degree angle. Is it battery powered so that it can be detached from the base and carried around like a giant tablet?

It's true Cook is no Jobs, but Microsoft is not going in a good direction. Windows 10 is absolutely awful. Microsoft's products are cheap and break down fast, and their licensing and customer service are insanely horrible.
I am not a Microsoft user but this is just WOW! I mean this is what innovation is! Learn from this Apple! Stop meddling in politics and do what you do great ok Tim Cccockk???
Microsoft can't get phones right, but they're *nailing* it with the Surface family. This is what the 21st century looks like. I bought a Surface Pro 4 a few months ago, and I will never go back to a "caveman laptop". This is my next computer. Now if they can finish ironing the kinks out of Win10...
