Apple to Unveil New Macs at an October 27th Event

Apple is planning to unveil new Macs at an October 27th event, reports Recode. This corroborates a recent report from Macotakara.

The Mac event is expected to take place at or near Apple’s Cupertino campus rather than in San Francisco, where the company held many recent events, including the iPhone 7 announcement.

The announcement has been expected for some time as many of Apple's Macs have not been updated in a long time.

It's widely rumored that Apple will replace the function keys on the MacBook Pro with an OLED Touch Bar. Check out these renders. Additionally, the Mac mini, iMac, and Mac Pro are in need of an update.

Data doubler?

If CDs/DVDs were still a thing today and not streaming/could based services, this means that if the drive was still included in the MacBook Pro today, there would also be a data doubler, but there's no chance Apple is going backwards to that now. Those are only in 2011 or below models!

It was a disaster when Lenovo did that a couple of years ago and replaced the function keys with soft keys on the X1 carbon. I hated it so much that I ended up selling the laptop within a couple months of use. Apparently I was not alone and Lenovo ditched the soft keys the following year. Maybe Apple has a better implementation on the Macs but as of now, I'm very skeptical about this.

But what if the current mb pros were updated to keep the old keys to be sold with the new chiclet keyboard styled ones? To me though, I kind of look forward to those kinds of keyboards because sometimes, I press the edge of a key and never registers and/or would be stiff when trying to press when the mechanism couldn't work (unless it's the kind of keyboard that could be force touch you're mentioning) and the worst time for these problems to happen is when gaming.

Should be (would love it to be) WITHOUT the stupid touch bar and have the same keyboard layout of the new 12" MB, exposed speaker grills like previous Pro models and MULTIPLE ports: USB-C for charging, 1 additional usb-c AND a usb3.0, mic and earphones. Replaceable RAM and batt, and so on.
