Square is rolling out its new mobile payment reader to 100 businesses around the United States, reports USA Today.
"Until now, technology like our new reader has been out of reach for local businesses," said Jesse Dorogusker, head of hardware at Square, told USA TODAY via email. "Now Square sellers across the country can quickly and easily accept the new forms of payment that are crossing their counter tops."
The new reader is able to accept EMV chip cards and NFC payment methods including Apple Pay. It contains a battery and can be used without being attached to your iOS device.
Made for NFC and chip
One reader, two ways to get paid: accept Apple Pay (and other contactless payments) and EMV chip cards, too.
Pocket-size and powerful
Packed with a powerful battery, the reader connects wirelessly to iOS or Android devices.
Works with the Square app
Our free point-of-sale app takes care of payments, tipping, inventory, reports, and more.
Magstripe reader in the box
We’ll send you a free Square magstripe reader—so you can swipe cards the old-fashioned way, too.
The new Square Reader will be $49. More details at the link below...
