Darrell Etherington, TechCrunch's lead Apple reporter, has been hired away by Apple for a PR position, reports 9to5Mac.

We’ve learned that he left to take up a job in Apple’s PR office in Toronto, Canada. Etherington’s modern journalism expertise should be beneficial for Apple as it improves its approach to press relationships, while the admiration of his former colleagues should go a long way in fostering those ties…

Etherington joins a group of other prominent bloggers recently hired by Apple including Anand Shimpi of Anandtech and Chris Breen from MacWorld.

Bittersweet. Glad for him. But not sure how it will affect the tech crunch podcast. :(. Weirdest podcast i keep in my feed. Its just one of those disasters that u cant turn away from. Probably because of the unabashed arguing the podcasters partake in. It's aggravating, yet somehow addicting. I hate it! I love! Its like cigarettes. U know you should get rid of them, but only after just one more.......
