TaiG has officially released an updated version of its iOS 8.3 jailbreak utility that brings a fix for Cydia Substrate. A version of the utility was leaked yesterday when a redditor found what was likely a test release on TaiG's server.
The new 2.1.2 version of the utility can be downloaded from here.
Official Changelog: ● Fixes problems of getting stuck at 20% and 60%, and adaptate for latest iTunes. ● Compatible with Cydia Substrate(Mobile Substrate). ● Corrects the blank Settings problem while matching Apple Watch with iDevice. ● Fix issues of UIcache.
You can find instructions on how to jailbreak your device in the tutorials linked below. At this point in time, the jailbreak utility has only been released for Windows.
So what do you choose after you do a iOS restored?
Setup as New
Restore iCloud
or
Restore from iTunes Backup?
If not Setup as new then it automatically get to which ever.
And I thought if I set it up as new I can't restore from a previous backup since it thinks its a new device?
I am wrong?
Thanks
And so it continues: I have restored my device to 8.3. Removed ALL Apple related software as well downgraded iTunes to 12.0.1 and I am stuck at 20% with Taig 8.2.1.2.
I tried it with airplane on and off, wifi on and off, changed USB's from front to back of my PC. Of course I have passcode andFind My iPhone disabled.
I have a 32bit PC with Windows 8.1 on it as well a iMAC with Parallel Windows 10 Tech Preview and on both 20% is sits.
Well not exactly sits it continually reboots itself.
Is anyone else getting the following error when starting the 2.1.2 version:
"Network anomalies. Version verification failed"
Also of note, http://www.taig.com is not responding (at least to my computer).
Thoughts
Replying to myself with a solution to my problem:
It was my network setup that was somehow blocking access to taig.com. Meh, it's free wifi so I can't complain.
Solution:
In order to get the jailbreak app to work, I enabled the personal hotspot on my 5C and connected my Windows 7 PC to that. That got me past the version check (or whatever) and I was able to complete the process.
jailbreak success!
a little help if needed...
running win7 on mac bootcamp
itunes 12.0.1.26
iP6+ 8.3
steps taken...
Backed up with itunes.
restore device and setup as new
did not add passcodes or icloud
flight mode
run jailbreak
run Cydia to setup filesystem
restore from itunes backup
after 30+ tries with varyin steps - this worked for me
hope I help someone.
Well I hav been trying to jb my iPh6 for 3 days now...
Tried multiple PC's, OS's, downgraded iTunes, deleted all Apple software.
Tried everything WIFI on WIFI off, tried via Taig 2000, 2120 and so on and it sat at 20%.
I finally gave in and wiped it and then restored it via iTunes.
So now its been restoring my stuff from the cloud for 6 hours and still isn't done.
Can anyone tell me if the icon restore doesn't work is there a way to get my apps installed without having to install them 1 by 1?
My hope is that app my apps would be installed via the cloud but this is taking way to long.
After the restore I will try again to jb with 2.12 even though Im starting to wonder if its worth it.
Thanks
JB works 100% (ipad3 iOS 8.3), however most of my favourite cydia tweaks are not updated for 8.3 yet (like ifile, batterydoctor pro, winterboard themes, etc)
Still doesn't work. I've been stuck for 2 hours at 60%. I've run it every way imaginable, deleted and reinstalled EVERY Apple program multiple times. NOTHING works.
TaiG is NOT a very professional team, as they won't debug ANYTHING they develop, leaving it for users to test their software for them.
I recommend waiting until 8.4 before anyone jailbreaks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, even on the same machine and following the identical steps.
i was stuck on 60% for a while. backup your phone in iTunes to you mac/pc (not to iCloud) then restore. then make sure phone is restored to how it was, then jailbreak.
also if you don't want to loose your apple watch data backup with encryption
Something seriously wrong with this, allways get message apple driver hasn't been found. I was on the older version before, no go, tried their link to update just drivers, no go, latest version of iTunes now, no go. ITunes finds my iphone fine so the drivers must be working...
yes i know that the only option is to downgrade itunes (which i dont want to), thats one of the reasons why they released this updated jailbreak to solve the uninstall, hope they release another update.
thank you anyways ..
