Apple has denied a report that said its launch of HomeKit would be delayed. The company provided a statement to the WSJ indicating the first HomeKit devices would come out next month.
“HomeKit [hardware certification] has been available for just a few months and we already have dozens of partners who have committed to bringing HomeKit accessories to market and we’re looking forward to the first ones coming next month,” said Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller.
Fortune's sources had said that the May or June launch would be pushed back to late August or September; however, it seems as though Apple is confident that HomeKit devices will arrive in June.
In an update, Fortune says that its sources are still waiting to hear from Apple about the HomeKit issues that need to be resolved before they can launch.
My sources have so far held off on their launch plans awaiting word from Apple about the HomeKit issues, but it sounds like Apple is confident that it’s launch plans are good to go and we’ll see something next month. I’ll be waiting to see if that list matches up with the original list of partners from June 2014.
