TinyUmbrella has been completely re-written from the ground up to support all current devices and iOS versions, including the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
TinyUmbrella was a popular SHSH blob saving tool that made downgrades and iOS restores possible. Unfortunately, Apple began closing the loop holes used, thus blocking the ability downgrade and re-restore. Saving SHSH blobs is still "useless", but semaphore, the developer, hints that that could change soon.
Previously, saving SHSH blobs let you restore regardless of whether or not Apple was signing the firmware. For instance, if you needed to restore your phone, but the latest firmware was not jailbreakable (ex iOS 8.2), you could use your SHSH blobs to downgrade to a lower firmware version, or simply re-restore to a jailbreakable firmware (ex iOS 8.1.2).
Details are limited, so we aren't sure what semaphore has planned, but for now, a beta version of TinyUmbrella with limited features has been released in order to iron out various bugs before releasing a version with "more admirable features". Those "admirable features" are likely going to make saving SHSH blogs relevant again. Semaphore hints at the upcoming features on twitter, and even discusses working with @iH8sn0w on an exploit he discovered.
I would not have updated TU if there wasn’t at least a moderately good reason to. So, no it is not useless to save them.
While iOS 8.1.2 is no longer being signed, TinyUmbrella can save the SHSH blobs off your device if you're currently on 8.1.2 (so if you're on iOS 8.1.2, stay on iOS 8.1.2!). The beta is available now for both Mac and PC. We recommend that you save your SHSH blobs as soon as possible, especially if you're on a jailbreakable firmware like iOS 8.1.2.
We'll have more details in the days ahead. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

I used the new release of TinyUmbrella on my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.3 installed: TinyUmbrella give me SHSH file, but just one file :-(
I could have the SHSH signature for iOS 8.1.3 and 8.2 or not?
that will be so great I hope it will be done soon so I can save my 7.1.2 Blobs for both my iPhone 6 and iPad Air before I buy the Apple Watch which will force me to upgrade or they probably create tweaks to run the Apple Watch on a jail broken 7.1.2 which is fine by me to.
99% of people here don't even know what this means. They think you can just pick a software now.... I remember when I had an iPhone 4, running ac!d Siri, kept going back and forth with iOS 5 and 6.... The good old days. The days of redsn0w. The days of rocking a tethered jailbreak just because you could.
Yup, but count me out..COZ 'still have my good ol' 3GS old-bootrm - never died on me (6.1.6) ..and mi everlasting (2010) iPhone 4 (on 5.1.1)..Acid-Siri / AirPlay /etc..lasts 3 days w/out charging.. talk & text/ NO DATA/ pre-paid ..$10 (3 months expiration).. If ain't broke, don't fix - but Tiny Umbrella is the FIX..so of course, I'm thankful to these guys...KUDOS ..best of luck on JB Summit soon!
Hi...
I have a iphone 5s and my device was successful sync with iTunes. My device iOS is 8.1.2 and jilbreaked...
My device not هdentification with tinyumbrella...
I hope they can make a way to dump blobs also because I want iOS 6 but I don't have those saved because I got my iPhone after iOS 7 was out. I still haven't updated and never plan to. However, i have issues and I want to restore but not iOS 8 because 7/8 sucks.
Dude, it won't do YOU any good.
You have to save the blobs WHEN you have the software on your phone.
YOUR BLOBS are unique to your phone. If you are not on IOS 6, you can't save the blobs for it....read up on this.
