Pebble has unveiled a new Pebble Time Steel smartwatch adding it as one of the pledge tiers in its Kickstarter campaign.
Despite being criticized for its plastic look, the Pebble Time smartwatch raised millions on Kickstarter in just hours. The campaign has currently raised over $12 million. Due to its success, Pebble has been able to add a new model of the smartwatch called Pebble Time Steel. It offers "All the features of Pebble Time, dressed up and ready to go", and adds: ● CNC-finished 316L stainless steel casing. ● Premium leather and stainless steel strap. ● Up to 10 days of battery life.
Pebble Time Steel is available in three stainless steel finishes: ● Silver with a stone leather band ● Gunmetal black with a black leather band ● Gold with red leather band
All Time Steels come with both a leather and matching metal band.
Upgrading to Time Steel Existing Pebble Time backers can easily change to or add a Pebble Time Steel by clicking the blue “Manage” button that appears next to your pledge amount. On the next screen you will be prompted to choose your new reward tier.
Backers wishing to add a Pebble Time Steel in addition to their Pebble Time should select the combo tier. Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel will ship separately, so you wont have to wait.
Pricing & Availability: To be one of the first customers to get a Pebble Time Steel, you can pledge $250 at the link below. It starts shipping in July.
it's not a copy for sure because it's a generic design but BUT it might be embarrassing to where the gold one and for people to come up to you and thinking wow that's the gold apple watch and then for them to realize it's just a pebble and having both parties embarrassed. the average person is not smart and doesn't know everything on the market. they might think it's an apple watch. on the price.....250usd? and 300usd retail. no way it's way overpriced. come on... i do like the new UI. if they can integrate the new UI with the older pebble and sell for like 50-75usd , it can be a good beater or disposable smart watch or a good cheap gift.
If this came out before Apple have shown their watch then it's fine. But this is just borderline copying the looks of an apple watch, especially the rose gold & red combination.
You do realize that Pebble has been in the Smart watch arena much loner right? One of, if not the first company to do it and do it well. While, I do see that the gold one resembles the same color scheme of the Apple Watch, I don't think they are copying. But to each his own
