Apple has officially responded to 'BendGate' saying that a bend in an iPhone is extremely rare and just nine customers have complained to the company about a bent iPhone 6 Plus.
"With normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus. As with any Apple product, if you have questions please contact Apple."
Apple also said that the iPhone 6 features a precision-engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength.
"Our iPhones are designed, engineered and manufactured to be both beautiful and sturdy. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature a precision-engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. They also feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high-stress locations and use the strongest glass in the smartphone industry. We chose these high-quality materials and construction very carefully for their strength and durability. We also perform rigorous tests throughout the entire development cycle including 3-point bending, pressure point cycling, sit, torsion, and user studies. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus meet or exceed all of our high-quality standards to endure everyday, real-life use."
What do you think? Is bendgate likely to affect just a very few customers? Here are the videos (2) if you haven't seen them.

Just FYI, not everyone that has a problem with their phone is an idiot. The phone easily bends just by having it in your pocket, even with a phone case!
I guess I'm hoping the one that says the phone owners need to get smart, I'm wishing you a bent phone.
First of all this expensive so called premium device that took years of engineering and R&D simply should not have this happen. Secondly, some people reported the phone bending in their front pockets.
It should be noted the Samsung Galaxy melts when exposed to a fire, and tests show the iPhone will last longer then the Galaxy before it stops functioning
This is a big deal for witches getting burned at the stake this Halloween. If they have a Samsung, their more likely to not be able to tell their goblins one last goodbye.
I hate Apple for duping us all into thinking our great big iPhone 6 plus phones were flexible. They should have told us. I bet if I stomped on it it would break too. It should be indestructible.
It's the big capitalist companies making us buy their stuff.
We have no choices.
We are not responsible for our actions. Apple should have a disclaimer saying that if you sit on your phone it will increase the possibility of damaging it.
If they had. Told us all the truth from the very beginning that these things can break if not used responsibly as on irresponsible person I would have not bought it.
Unbox Therapy has gone viral. The video depicts a man attempting to bend the iPhone 6 Plus with his bare hands. He is able to bend it quite significantly as you can see in the picture. The video has been viewed over 17 million times, so it certainly is not something that should be disregarded by Apple. In follow up videos Unbox Therapy tried to bend the Galaxy Note 3 as well as other smartphones such as the Moto X, iPhone 6, Lumia 1520, and the HTC M8. He wasn't able to bend any of them, meaning this problem is exclusive to the iPhone 6 Plus. The man who bent the phones noted that when he tried to bend the iPhone 6 Plus back into place the screen ended up cracking.
There's a story about a guy who had a long sleeve shirt and a shirt caught on fire when he held his arm over the flames when he went camping he is now suing the shirtmaker for not saying that the shirt could catch fire
Imagine all those people who go camping wearing long sleeves or putting their lives at risk because we don't have the warning labels to save lives
I think there's going to be in a class action lawsuit against all apparel makers so that way we can have warning labels and we will know not to put her arms over open flames
People should not have to worry about getting burnt when they have their arms over flames they should be able to do it as often as they like without any issues
All the nice clothes out there with all the wonderful things the extra buttons the pretty colors and it's all ruined
Just like the lawsuit against candy makers A guy had a three Musketeer bar in his pocket and when he decided to go for it two hours later it was warm mush and he should be able to put it in his pocket and not have to worry that it's going to melt.
Well you might be thinking that's not a good comparison a candy bar everybody knows will melt in your pocket
Get a brain people
I have to be in a VERY EXCLUSIVE club... I called to complain that my screen is separating from the phone and was given an appointment to speak to a "Genius" on Friday... (It doesn't take a Genius to see that this is one of the WORST phones Apple has ever produced!!!) All of the wonderful features on this phone mean NOTHING if you have to act like you have an EGG in your pocket!!! I see "Class Action" in Apple's future...
Apple is very careful with their words. They are saying only 9 complaints reported to the company APPLE. But I'm sure there has been more than 9 complaints about there phone bending. That's why at the end of the article they write make sure you direct all complaints to apple.
What they are possibly implying is that many more complaints would have been to AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, etc. and any other vendors distributing the iPhone 6.
Its not just apple!!! It has been just 6 days of launch and there are already 9 officially complaining. There may be thousands yet to come apple store to file complain. You should accept your fault and replace the phones asap.
I like facts and not emotional vomit. If there are only 9 bent phones reported to apple,we should wait and see if in th weeks ahead this number rises significantly. This would then indicate a problem. If a significant percentage of 6 plus's are getting bent out of shape under normal use, apple has a problem. If it's just a few bad apples, then good. For now let's not get orgasmic about the bent gate hype.
Clearly people have different expectations from their smartphones. I consider them to be delicate pieces of technology, not something you're careless with. To me there is no "bendgate", but it doesn't surprise me that people are freaking out... if there is hysteria about iPhones in general (like camping out to get one) then it's not surprising that there's also hysteria when "something bad" comes to the surface. People just gotta chill, any product will have some defects. If you want something you can abuse, buy a Nokia.
So why not just replace all 9 phones if those customers are complaining about there phones bending? I'm sure there will be a lot more complaints that would go directly to apple.
From my personal experience, I carried my iPhone 6 in my back pocket for last 3 days occasionally sitting on it. Same way I carried my iPhone 4 for the last 4 years. When I checked it last night for any bending, it was very slightly bent. I was able to bend it back by hand and get it straight again using a straight edge. My old iPhone never bent, but granted it is a lot smaller.
