Apple may be planning to unveil a new charger design alongside its new Lightning cable with reversible USB connector. Gizmobic spotted a photo of the alleged new charger on Weibo.
Notably, the charger features a design that is very similar to the Australian charger; however, it is a standard NEMA-1 plug with two flat parallel blades.
Take a look at the photo below. If you haven't already seen the reversible USB connector in action, check that out here.
If authentic, Apple will likely debut the new plug and cable when it unveils the iPhone 6 on September 9th.
Wireless charging is cool but adds a lot of bulk and weight to the design of the phone. Plus you have to lug around the stand or pad used to charge the phone, and it still had to be plugged in. It takes just about the same amount of time to plug the phone in using a traditional cord and it's a lot easier to carry around with you.
The new cable WILL be able to be used in all existing USB ports and be usb 3 compatible. With this new redesigned charger it will be easier to remove it from the wall when pulling it out of the wall. I've personal used the Australian one and it's a lot easier to unplug and plug. The dimples actually help a lot.
