Apple to Release iWatch in Multiple Sizes, Could Cost Up To Several Thousand Dollars?

Posted April 10, 2014 at 4:14pm by iClarified
In his recently released Apple Roadmap, KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo reveals his predicted specifications for iWatch, which will reportedly ship in Q3 2014.

The iWatch is said to come in 1.3-inch and 1.5-inch sizes to accommodate different sized wrists. Both will utilize flexible AMOLED displays with sapphire glass covers for scratch protection. The device will integrate numerous biometric sensors, a NFC chip, and have a slim, light, 'fashionable appearance'.

Kuo thinks that the watch's mechanical parts could be made with liquidmetal and it may have an 'innovative' antenna design that would allow for wireless charging. The battery is estimated at 200 to 250mAh in size and will last for at least a day of operation. Apple is expected to beat rival devices in this area due to its "vertically integrated operating system and key components."

According to Kuo, Apple will release the iWatch at multiple price points and in a variety of materials. At the high end, he says the device could cost thousands of dollars.

"Fashion is the name of the game; most expensive model likely priced at several thousand US dollars. Referring to the rules of the fashion market, we predict the iWatch casing and band will come in various materials. The most expensive model of the iWatch line will carry a price tag of several thousand US dollars."

Kuo says the iWatch will be Apple's most important product of 2014. Shipments of 5.5 million units are expected this year and next year could see 30 to 50 million units shipped.

That's like saying stick with the old phone on the walls instead of wire free phone. iWatch is used to do things iphone can't and the best part is that it's actually mobile so in case of teachers telling you to put your phone away, you can secretly finish your business on the watch. Plain and simple.

The iWatch and the Samsung watch are going to be the biggest flops ever. It just doesn't make sense to have a watch when you have a smartphone. Maybe this would have worked better with nokias and such.

I doubt that so much. iPhone sells for a lot less than $1000 but size that make up most of the price, this gadget should be sold for $300 at least.

In some countries, iPhones cost more than $1000. Also I'd rather buy a movado watch for that much money

Are they nuts??? Several thousand dollars for the top of the line? This can't be true and it would not succeed. I love my iPhone but really, this is way over the top. Apple is copying no one. Let's remember they patented the watch BEFORE Samsung came out with theirs. Only Samsung wants to take credit for it. Still, they're way over priced so no thank you. The lesser ones will probably be too expensive as well. I don't think this is true anyhow.

Stop over-compensating. We know you secretly crave for Apple products, just like Samsung. You can't survive without it. It's ok. We know.
