Apple Accidentally Leaks New iWork and iLife App Icons, GarageBand App is Going Free

Apple has accidentally leaked new iWork and iLife app icons along with the news that GarageBand will become a free basic download, reports MacRumors.

The new icons surfaced on Apple's 'Built-In Apps' page; however, they have since been changed back to the iOS 6 ones.

Notably, GarageBand will now offer in-app purchase content with certain instruments and sounds only being available for a fee. It's presumed that GarageBand wasn't made free earlier due to licensing issues and this is how Apple is working around the problem.

Here's the footnote that Apple posted on the upcoming app:

GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013.

It's now likely that Apple will introduce the new apps during its October 22nd special event to unveil new iPads.

People aren't buying our iPhone 5S oh what to do? Let's give them free apps and only for one who buys in September. What about existing customers? Not a bad try

Apple should make iWork and iLife Apps free for all iOS devices. They should not be limitting only to devices activated September 1 onwards.

These icons are much much better than those other hideous stock icons iOS7 shipped with. I think whoever designed these must re-design the rest of the iOS7 icons also.

No they didn't. It's correct. It's fee, meaning the amount you pay for a particular product or service. Read the sentence again.
