Viber hackers have now defaced the App's AppStore description after attacking the App's support page. The attack was initially led by the Syrian Electronic Army who have taken responsibility for this latest attack as well. The description now says "We created this app to spy on you, please download it!"
Viber issued the following statement regarding the matter: A few days ago a “hacker” was able to gain access to a couple of Viber.com email accounts via a phishing attack. This has since been fixed.
Data they recovered allowed them to deface our support site and also gain access to our iTunes Connect account (App Store) at a level that allowed them to change the description text of our app – which they did a few days ago around the same time as the original defacement. We noticed this within minutes, fixed the metadata and removed this user (in fact, all users but one) from our iTunes Connect account.
Unfortunately, on Saturday this happened again. Upon further investigation we realized this is a security issue in iTunes Connect. It seems that when you remove a user, if the user is logged in, then the user stays logged in. We hope Apple fixes this issue soon, as currently we have no way to permanently disconnect this user from our iTunes Connect. We have reached out to Apple regarding this issue and are waiting on their response.
At this point, we want to reassure users, that this has no impact on the security of the Viber App, Viber System, our databases, user information, etc. It’s merely an unfortunate nuisance.
I thought this was a tech forum....I've heard it said the USA should have nuked the whole area, placed a gas pump on it and called it the 51st state. If this happened, maybe you guys could agree on something..... I apologize if I offended anyone, but this political crap doesn't belong here. Get my point?
It says in the torah that isreal is gods gift to the Jews. It doesn't say anywhere that we can slaughter people it's that isreal has a right to defend itself when it is attacked by neighboring country's
Yes, Israel has the right to defend itself. Yes, the Palestinians have the right to fight for their stolen land. Yes, both sides have the right to slaughter each other for eternity. How's it going so far for the two sides? Not that great, huh? Let's please not make the argument of land ownership based on holy books, otherwise we'll never get anywhere. Besides, if I'm not mistaken the jews are supposed to be led to the promised land, not be given it by the United Nations. And if the United Nations' creation of Israel is valid, shouldn't also its other decrees be equally valid? Like the one about not keeping land conquered in a war, or the ones about human rights, treatment of occupied peoples, et cetera? The bottom line is that whether some people are unhappy about it or not, Israel now exists and that is an irreversible fact. But the Israelis should be a beacon of justice and equanimity for the world to admire, and stop behaving like its people's oppressors of the past. Israel has the right to defend itself, and the moral obligation of doing right by the Palestinian people.
How could you possibly disagree with anything I wrote, or at least perceive it as anything other than a valid and centrist opinion? Surely you cannot expect the world to recognise the validity of YOUR holy book over all others or over civil laws, no matter how true you may believe it to be. Also: The palestinians are not "a neighbouring country", they are an illegally occupied territory. Furthermore: Throughout history the jewish people have been on the vanguard of justice and human right struggles, and have undoubtably made more contributions to humanity than any other group (relatively speaking, of course) in a multitude of fields. I have tremendous respect for the jewish people. However, Israel's foreign and domestic policies are shameful, as a huge portion of its citizenry also believes. In conclusion: now I will shut up, because this is after all a tech forum, but mainly because debating with closed-mindendness is a waste of time.
