Pod2g and Planetbeing Find Two New Vulnerabilities for iOS 6 Jailbreak

Posted January 19, 2013 at 5:25pm by iClarified
Pod2g and planetbeing have found two new vulnerabilities but are still missing the initial code execution for a public jailbreak release.

Yesterday we reported that pod2g and planetbeing had teamed up to do some work on the iOS 6 jailbreak. Early this morning pod2g revealed that they have found two new vulnerabilities in just a day.

Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I'll try to reward myself with a nap. :)

pod2g: @planetbeing oh yeah! 2 new vulnerabilities in a day, chance was with us. But we still miss that initial code execution for a public jb :/

It's great that progress is being made. Hopefully, the two find that last piece of the puzzle and are able to release their jailbreak to rest of us.

you guys who keep up the JB begging. Have you noticed that it isnt easy to do? They are trying to crack something that an ENTIRE development team spends months building and testing. These guys dont have it easy so cut them some slack and be patient. Or.. build you own jailbreak

Im desperate for jailbreaking my iphone 5 before throw them in trashcan. I have it turned off most of the time because of receiving too many telemarketing calls. Wish Apple could add blacklist function but no. Still relying on jailbreaks..

I agree with the comments recognizing that apple should pay respect to the hackers devoting their time creating a jaibreak for their boring devices and should recognize that they played a part in their success .

You see when you make an offer? It pays off !! Apple should be paying these guys for Jailbreaking Apple products. Watch the sale of the Iphone 5 jump. I already order my 64 gig Iphone 5 last night. I am hoping to jailbreak it by the end of the month. That will be my Bday present.

hopefully they hold off on the untethered jailbreak at least until apple adds T-Mobile usa carrier bundle to a future firmware update

I'm afraid you're out of luck. It will be a long while before T-Mobile gets the proper support from Apple for the iPhone. T-Mobile has an exclusive contract with Google ATM and I don't remember when that exclusive contract ends, but until then, Apple refuses to give full T-Mobile support for the iPhones

I really don't know what apple has been waiting for ,on creating a tweak/theme store, why they have been ignoring the millions of jailbreakers for this long is beyond my understanding ,this is why they are losing against android, cause the iPhone is just to plain and boring

Me2 - January 20, 2013 at 3:21am
I agree with you David,a friend of mine traded his 4S that he just bought 2 weeks ago for an Android. I was telling why in the hell did you do that? He said the same thing showed me,all the tweaks you can do to an Android without jail-breaking it. Like the contact Pics for instance I was amazed and its really tempting . But I love Apple,I know I will regret it once the jailbreak is out for the iPhone 5. Ill wait But I do understand why people are switching from an Iphone to Samsung and android

My analogy of this whole thing is like people tend to focus on what they don't have, rather than appreciate what they have. It's human nature.

ROFL, Rob, you are so right!!! Esp. the part where you mentioned he has no understanding of the stats he is "finding" on Google and the part where he has no chance of winning this argument. I think he gave up on it, too. LOL.

Look at web site hits. Installous got 5000 times as many hits as Cydia. Installous had over 10000 times as many downloads as Cydia. The numbers speak for themselves. Add in the fact that Cydia hosts sites that contain files necessary to run Installous downloads and the conclusion is indisputable. Virtually all jailbreakers are pirates. If you are one of the rare folks that isn't a pirate, congratulations. But I don't believe you.

"Look at web site hits. Installous got 5000 times as many hits as Cydia. Installous had over 10000 times as many downloads as Cydia. The numbers speak for themselves." Seeing as though not many people go to Saurik's site for Cydia, you can't even try to bring that up as a defense. Also, Installous is done through Apptackr which only links up 3rd Party File Hosting websites such as Mediafire. That being said, any traffic that goes through those sites is not reliable. Especially when a majority of users only use the Installous App on iOS and not a browser and Cydia Store is almost completely held within the Cydia App itself. So again, get your facts straight. And when it comes to your statement about: "Add in the fact that Cydia hosts sites that contain files necessary to run Installous downloads and the conclusion is indisputable." all I need to say there is the truth about how it all got started and how it is so closely linked to present day events as well. Cydia hosts sites that host the packages known AppSync. AppSync started out as a tweak for iOS App devs to actually test their apps before releasing and this was all done before Apple implemented the test signing or w.e the hell they call it. Look at Zeusmos. Read up on it. It was made for devs, not Pirates but the Pirates took over. Now, Zeusmos was in the APP STORE!!!!!! not Cydia! So don't argue.

I don't think he's saying Jailbreaking is illegal. Just piracy.
xMajorOwnage4x
xMajorOwnage4x - January 22, 2013 at 4:51am
No, he is not saying that Jailbreaking is illegal, HOWEVER, he is saying that ALL JAILBREAKERS are PIRATES. Oh and one more thing Russell, talking about statistics, this was posted 7 hours ago showing the exact thing you tried showing. but better. https://www.iclarified.com/26834/number-of-devices-running-cydia-in-past-two-months-chart In other words, "According to Jay Freeman" AKA Saurik, the creator of Cydia "in a recent report, the number of devices running Cydia in the past two months is tallied in at 22,780,029." That my friend is a TON OF JAILBROKEN iDEVICES!

Hiya, I jailbreak to free myself from Apple's inhuman closed system. I like to block ads, so I use Ad Blocker from the Cydia store. As well, I like infinite icons in folders, so I installed Infinifolders. I buy and install legitimate tweaks to support the developers. I am not a pirate. That being said, the pirates give jailbreaking a bad name. It's like Muslims, they have been alienated to the point that merely stating you are one means you are "a terrorist." This sort of prejudice is sick and disgusting and needs to be eliminated.
Noman
Noman - January 20, 2013 at 12:27am
Blocking ads isn't very different form piracy.

Noman
Noman - January 20, 2013 at 3:27am
Really, pk? Admittedly, blocking ads is not illegal. However, the morality of doing so is not so clear. After all, the ultimate purpose is to deprive the developer of income. There are alternatives. Many times, a paid, ad-free version is available. One could also not use an app if the ads bother you. Instead, you choose to effectively steal the use of the app. Sounds a lot like piracy to me. Of course, people who don't see anything wrong with theft 'see things differently.' Sounds like you are one of those people.

It's such a pain for the Dev-Team and the Ios hackers in general. The next iPad 5/mini 2, and 5s are coming very soon, which means, it'll even take more time for them to make an untethered jailbreak. One thing I'll always keep in mind is to never update a newer firmware if there's no jailbreak!
