AT&T is selling refurbished iPhone 5 smartphones for $99.99 (with a contract) via their website. The 32GB and 64GB models are also available refurbished at a $100 discount.
So at this point the $99 16gb iPhone 5 (refurbished) purchase that I made 7 days ago today is on BACK ORDER!!
Seriously?? ATT sells a a ton of phones and they are back ordered??
WTF!
If you are a current AT&T customer after going through the upgrade prompts you have to click on "All Smartphones". You must then narrow your search using the column on the left to only Apple under Manufacturer and Refurbished under Phone. It will then give you the option to upgrade to the Iphone 5 Refurbished model. I called online support and thats what they told me to do so mine is on its way. Please note the "Buy Iphone 5" picture will only prompt you to get a brand new Iphone 5. They were originally selling between $99-$299 but now it went up to $149-$349.
They are testing just , how many people want to buy that product , "mental game" , its perfect, they have a stadistic of a future plan os sales, "really clever"

iClarified even reported this:
Apple is releasing the iPhone 5S this coming summer.
And as is the case with new hardware releases, people return items for any number of reasons. Since the iPhone 5 was a sellout on September 21, I'm sure that the returns are higher than previous versions. So of course there is a larger supply of refurbished units....
Another reason for refurbs ---- broken screens, cracked rears, busted software, broken buttons, etc. anytime a phone is swapped out by Apple for warranty then the phones are now considered Refurbished. If you have ever taken your current iPhone and Apple swapped it out for you, it's a refurb.
