These are instructions on how to downgrade your iPad 2 from iOS 6.x to iOS 5.x using saved SHSH blobs and Redsn0w for Mac.

You will need to have saved SHSH Blobs for iOS 5.x and iOS 4.x for this tutorial to work.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage

Download the latest version of RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the 5.x firmware you would like to restore to and the 4.x firmware you have saved SHSH Blobs for from here and place it/them in the Pwnage folder.

Extract the RedSn0w zip file by double clicking it.

You cannot factory unlock an iPad as of now

Ouch! You mean I PERMANENTLY locked my iPad?! That's not good. Perhaps a clear warning to that effect might be in order here. If I knew that, I wouldn't have done this in the first place. :-(

Au contraire! I finally reinstalled 5.1.1 using redsn0w and my unlock returned! Jailbroke with Absinthe (redsn0w wouldn't work) so my iPad2 is now both jailbroken and unlocked on 5.1.1 down from 6.1.2. I should mention that AT&T reissued the IMEI unlock.

I bought a used iPad2 running 6.1.2 that had 4.3.5, 5.1.1 and 6.1.2 hashes saved. I used this tutorial (above) to successfully downgrade from 6.1.2 to 5.1.1. BUT it relocked the iPad! Although it's now Jailbroken, I'd still like to use it on a different carrier from AT&T but I'm not sure how to unlock it. AT&T claims it SHOULD be unlocked and they reissued the network unlock. Any idea what I should do? Will restoring it with a locally saved 5.1.1 IPSW do it?

I have an iPad 2 now running on iOS 6.0. Now I'm only having 5.0.1, 5.1, 5.1.1 shsh blobs because when I bought my iPad it's already on iOS 5.0.1 (that means there's no way to get the 4.x shsh, right?). So are there anyway to jailbreak my iPad? Or it's impossible and I have to wait for the iOS 6 jailbreak. Sorry for the long post :D

Failed iPad 2 GSM downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1.1 with SHSH 4.3.5 & SHSH 5.1. 1 "Couldn't obtain fresh baseband blobs. It's probably no longer being signed. Baseband : ICE3_04.12.02_BOOT_02.12.Release.bbfw Don't panic! This is fixable with a simple redsn0w update. You don't have to lose your re-restore!"
