Live Demo of the iPhone 3G Unlock! [Updated With Video]

Today, at 3PM EST, MuscleNerd, will show a live demo of the iPhone 3G unlock from the Qik application on the iPhone.

It will be broadcasted from a 2G iPhone, showing the soft-unlock of the iPhone 3G. The actual URL will be tweeted via MuscleNerd's twitter account once it starts.

This week's DevTeam Funday features a live demo of yellowsn0w!

MuscleNerd will use Qik to broadcast a live video and audio stream (from an iPhone 2G) of an iPhone 3G being soft-unlocked with yellowsn0w. He's in Florida for the holidays so there won't actually be any snow in the live demo (although strangely enough if he were back home in Los Angeles he'd be very close to snow this week!).

Qik creates a chatroom for its videos but it may not be feasible to field questions live from the chatroom. So if you have a question that hasn't already been answered in our previous blog posts, please tweet them in advance to Musclenerd.

We're aiming to do the live demo in about 12 hours, or 3PM EST. The actual URL will be tweeted via MuscleNerd's twitter account just as it starts.

Here is a short video from MuscleNerd's Qik account that has some preliminary information that relates to his AT&T SIM card. This also demonstrates the video and sound quality that you should expect during the demonstration. We plan to capture the VNC session that you can see in the background so that we can post a more detailed video later.

Hi, I just have a quick question. does anyone know how long it'll take before a softwear unlock app for the iPhone 3G 2.2fw comes up..!!? I was waiting for my brother in law to get me an iPhone from England. However when I finally got it I found out the horrible truth and that it was recently upgraded to 2.2 and so far all I could do is jailbreak it using pwnagetools2.2.1 :(

Well Im sorry Im dissapointing you exi but check both videos. On the first one everything is as it should be there's a WiFi icon on the notification bar and when he goes to the settings theres WiFi on its color normal color with other options. But when you check the second video youll notice that in the notification bar theres only edge icon and when he goes into settings theres the WiFi option grayed out. Now Im not blind but I dont know if anyone can connect using the USB cable with SSH or VNC.

open your eyes .. guys! the wifi in the upper left corner is blue .. and in the settings-menu, after WiFi there is the name of his WiFi ..

How did you connect your iphone with SSH, via USB? Because obviously the WiFi is grayed out and there's no icon of the wifi in Notification Bar. Thats strange isnt it? I dont know a way to connect via USB with SSH.

Can someone please let the iPhone-Dev-Team know about www.iphoneunlockuk.com 's current intentions? Going by the most recent news post (Dec 16th) on the website, it would appear scammy 'Jody Sanders' is STILL trying to profitise from the Dev-Teams' hard work and is planning on nicking their glory for being the first to create a 'true software-only' iPhone 3G unlock. Someone find a way of shutting down this elaborate scam website already - I think its truly insulting what 'Jody' is managing to get away with at the moment! ; or at least report it to the local Trading Standards office...

Damn Good Work MuscleNerd, Not Bad At All I've been in contact with the DevTeam (though not consistently and with a few members) and I am very proud of them. It would be interesting to discuss as I was viewing the demo that MuscleNerd had his wi-fi grayed out. Speculation suggests this has nothing to do with the unlock due to the fact that it was grayed out before as well as after the unlock. An explanation as to why a DevTeam member would operate with a grayed out wifi config would seem to comfort many and alleviate any and all pretenses of using this amazing Cydia executable easy and fast and breakthrough script. Props To the DevTeam and everyone be proud of them for releasing B4 the 09, Truly A Happy New Year. Side Note. I still don't personally like the 3G iPhone for physical manufacturing reasons and its fragility. I am dissappointed that when the 32GB comes out it will be 3G and not a strong !st gen iPhone. Eventually I would like to mod the OG iPhone to have that flashlight in the back like on iphone.ru and you can't do it with the 3G.
