Instructions on how to perform an untethered jailbreak of your second generation Apple TV using Seas0nPass for Windows.
*Before beginning this tutorial you must have already installed the Microsoft .Net Framework which can be found here.
Step One Download the latest version of SeasonPass from here.
Step Two Extract the archive you downloaded. Then double click the extracted application to launch it.
Step Three Click the Create IPSW button from the main screen.
Step Four Seas0nPass will now download the latest Apple TV firmware file
Step Five Seas0nPass will create a custom IPSW file for you.
Step Six Once your custom IPSW file has been created, Seas0nPass will ask you to connect the Apple TV to your computer via a micro-USB cable and use the remote to put it into DFU mode by holding MENU and PLAY/PAUSE for 7 seconds. The power cable should be unplugged during this process. Tip: Connect the usb cable and press the buttons down at the exact same time.
Step Seven Once your Apple TV has been detected in DFU mode, Seas0nPass will upload some files, ask you if its okay to automatically restore firmware, and then beginning restoring to the new firmware.
Step Ten That's it! Your Apple TV is jailbroken!

I have tried all these steps and my Apple TV will not go into DFU Mode I've repeatedly tried holding down the buttons etc and it will not work... But it shows up in iTunes
After I have jailbroken my device I am having issues downloading fusion and mashup. When i type the address in for both and then go on Ad-ons there are no files? can anyone please help!!!!!!!!!!!
Seas0nPass provides an UN-TETHERED jailbreak of the 2nd gen Apple TV running the 5.3 (iOS 6.1.4 - 10B809) software that was released on June 19th, 2013.
I believe MD199EA is ATV 3rd Gen.
It will not work.
As far as I know there is no available jailbreak for ATV3.
My current ATV2 from the process I indicated above:
root# uname -av
Darwin Apple-TV 13.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 13.0.0: Wed Feb 13 21:36:52 PST 2013; root:xnu-2107.7.55.2.2~1/RELEASE_ARM_S5L8930X AppleTV2,1 arm K66AP Darwin
I am a rookie trying to jailbreak my apple tv 2 and need some help. I have Apple TV 2 version 4.3 8f455 and once I connect the Apple TV SeasOnPass it does continue to create an ISPW for this version but then "encounters a critical error" near the end when authenticating firmware signatures. When I pull up seas0npass I am left clicking and choosing version 4.3 8f455 is this incorrect? I am about 10 hours in to utube videos, different suggestions, many many tries and lots of frustration with the same outcome. Any thoughts? HELP!!!! Thanks Angela
sounds like all you need to do is ent. dfu mode; just plug your apple tv back into you PC and push and hold the two buttons; menu and play and pause buttons for 7 full seconds, and follow the onscreen directions. do you know if you are installing a "tether" or UNtethered JB?
When I launch SeasOnPass and click create IPSW it ask me to connect the Apple TV via USB port before doing anything. Once I connect the Apple TV SeasOnPass does continue to create an ISPW but encounters a critical error near the end when authenticating firmware signatures. I keep trying and I'm getting the same outcome. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Help Please ...
I download the latest version of seas0npass and when I go to dcreat ipsw, it automatically asks to connect the device instead of downloading the lastest firmware. It is an apple tv2 running 5.2
any advice?
Please help. I'm stuck at "Restoring in iTunes. Please wait while script is running..."
Itunes just sits open but the restore process doesn't begin. I'd try using "option + restore" but I can't find the ipsw that seas0npass has created. If anyone knows of a fix or where the seasonpass ipsw is located on a mac, I'd be ever so grateful for you help. Thanks.
Hi there, open finder, press "shift+cmd+G" simultaneously, copy and paste the following path line in the pop up window and you should see the seas0npass folder with the saved ipsw files.
Path Line: ~/Library/Application Support/Seas0nPass
Good Luck
All worked fine for me until my ATV2 informed me that a software/firmware update was available for my unit. Performed the 2 step update, unit rebooted, then I was presented with the iTunes / USB cable image. Could not get any further until I did a complete restore followed by Seas0nPass process. Any way of disabling check for updates. Thank you
Hi
I´m about to buy an Apple TV 2, like I understand there is not possible to Jailbreake Apple TV 3,.. so My question is which firmware has the Apple TV have to have for jailbrea´king??
I don't know you call it apple tv 2 or 3. My ver is 5.0.1 and it says 720 HD. So I belive it is apple tv2. Any way I got up to itune script successfully and then my apple tv light keep flashing for long time never stop. So I disconnect from pc. Then I hook up with tv no. No JB, it is same as before. Please need some help this point. Thanks in advanced.

I bought an Apple TV 2nd gen on ebay for 100 dollars, but according to the seller, the device had a "hardware issue" and didn't work. When it arrived, the first thing I did was to crack it open and look for a burned resistor or some kind of damage in the circuit, but there wasn't any. Since I couldn't find anything, I realized maybe the problem was in the software. I then tried to restore the firmware to remove any modifications made by the previous owner and I kept getting the same error code as you.
There is a file in your computer located in the following directory:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc
File name: hosts
Make 2 copies of the file and place them on your desktop before you attempt this method...
Modify one of them with Notepad and remove the last line(s), which are separated from the rest (the line(s) should say something like "gs.apple.com"). Save the changes and replace the original file with the one modified (after you are done, you can restore it with the other copy). You can't edit the file directly in that directory, windows won't let you.
Once you do this, try restoring the firmware again and this time you shouldn't get the error. I got my Apple TV to turn on and then I jailbroke it with Seas0nPass.
I never post in this kind of sites, let alone to help other people. But I spent about 6 hours struggling with that same problem. Hopefully it will help you if your Apple TV is still not working, or anyone who has the same problem and hasn't been able to fix it.
