iOS 5.0.1 Fails to Fix Battery Issues for Many, Brings New Problems

Posted November 11, 2011 at 3:22pm by iClarified
Apple's release of iOS 5.0.1 yesterday failed to fix battery issues for many iPhone 4S owners, according to Apple support forums.

Updated about 1.5 hours ago, battery has drained 20% since then with no usage! This is awful!

Upgraded to 5.0.1 this morning. Still draining at the exact same rate. Unplugged with a full charge 2 1/2 hours ago, and already down to 80% with light usage. Just lost 2% during a 15 minute shower. I see no difference at all.

New update is no help at all. I opened the safari and lost 2 % just by opening the safari browser...This really *****

No change for me either. Battery drain on my 4S remains after upgrading to 5.0.1! :-/

9to5Mac did a poll of its users and found that 61.7% of those having battery issues reported that iOS 5.0.1 did not solve the problem.

Meanwhile others are reporting new issues with the firmware such as not being able to download apps over the air and incoming calls and texts that don't display the contact name as saved in the address book.

Let us know if you are experiencing any of these issues or others in the comments.

Look at apple blameing flash for using too much power, they better sort out their software or hardware first!

Hi all this helped me very much: Go to settings-location services and all the way down is System services. From there disable location time zone or something like this. It increased my battery life with almost a day

Indeed a useful adjustment. I disable what I don't need. The 5.0.1 update increased my 4S battery life by around 15% with no other issues.

Apple is such a creep to keep all these location services on by default!! Thanks ime

This is why I stayed with the untethered JB iOS 4.3.3. I have more functionality (with my installed Cydia apps and tweaks), longer battery life, and more stability than with iOS 5. iOS 5 can suck it until the next version of iOS/iPhone is released.

Oh no, people whining on forums about a fantasy issue. I'm sure it will have an affect on things. Just like the antennagate whining did...oh wait...

Or just buy ANY android phone and, if you feel you need it, buy a spare battery. That simple.

Yesss and that's why an iphone 3G still has good battery life..., cause it has none of that PUSH stuff......
Frank
Frank - November 11, 2011 at 10:35pm
if you turn off push notification, location and 3G and only enable it when you need to use it (like 3G and location) your battery will improve 100%. You can set push to fetch very 30 mins or1 hour. Calls are still as clear on edge. 3G is only needed for data so disable it till you need to go online.

Lost my faith in Apple - bring on the Lumia! BTW. Gotta love the street attitude that is present on this forum. Probably the roughest i've come across in any web-site ever. Keep it up!

Floods and famine. Now that's a cause for concern. Not something that will get fixed. Is it really effecting your life that much?

If you knew about technology you would never have made your initial statement, and anybody in the technology industry would agree 100% with me.

Ok dude, I do agree that I have generalised in the first comment , But it was directed to people who were making lame comments, sounded like they were just flaming cuz they were Apple haters and would like to see Apple Sink, I am not a fanboy here though, Just that I happen to find my device working great and that some people here just exaggerate things a bit. Therefore mybad
