Microsoft Hands Out Free Samsung Tablets Running Windows 8

Posted September 13, 2011 at 5:47pm by iClarified
Following a preview of Windows 8, Microsoft has officially given all the attendees of its Build conference a free Samsung Tablet running the upcoming OS, reports TIMN.

The Samsung Windows 8 Developer Preview PC is essentially a Series 7 tablet with some added sensors, and it's running a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-2467M - it seems Microsoft isn't quite ready to hand out ARM-based tablets just yet. As with the Series 7, the tablet features an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 Super PLS display, USB and HDMI ports, a microSD slot, and support for pen input - the external dock / charging station offers USB, HDMI, and Ethernet connectivity as well. There's also an AT&T 3G modem, and Microsoft is including a year of 2GB / month service, which is pretty nice. Those added sensors are the usual fare: a gyroscope, compass, GPS, and NFC for that new tap-to-share feature.

Check it out in the video below...

Besides the fact that i find the UI ugly, it's not responsive at all!! I mean they are trying like 5 times to get a gesture right and make the tablet respond!!

For the love of God its a developer preview.... It's supposed to be buggy and unresponsive! If it wasn't buggy and unresponsive it would be out in the market right now... You may not like the user interface, but I'm sure a lot of people will love it.

Well, this is only a "developer preview", not even a decent beta, so it's nothing unusual to have some glitches.

The only way to put windows tablets in the hands of users is yo give them away.

Why are you a copycat commenter posting comments about Microsoft being a copycat as others have done?!? Why not post something original?

It's still windows: needs a reboot every few hours or it will crash or have unbearable lag. However, my iPod touch hasn't been turned off for nearly 2 weeks and it's fine!
