IMO, neither 1024x768 nor 768x1024 was a High Definition resolution. It is XGA, but not an HD. "HD ready" refers to any display that is capable of accepting and displaying a high-definition signal at either 720p (1280x720), 1080i (2 fields of 1920x540 each, called interlaced) or 1080p (1920x1080 progressive), so basically there are only two HD resolutions so far: 1280x720 and 1920x1080. I wish Apple could make the first iPad with the resolution of 1280x720.
