Realistic Rocket And Gravity Arcade Game

A Single Pixel has announced Rocket Gold 2.0 for iOS, a major update to their realistic rocket and gravity arcade game. Played with two hands in landscape mode, gamers maneuver a small capsule with a single thruster, pick up large fuel orbs from the Moon's surface, and tow them to their destination. Players control rotation of the capsule, its thrust and plasma cannon. Besides the complex physics of objects of high mass in low gravity, players must contend with various weapons batteries guarding the orbs, as well as difficult navigation through caves and around obstacles. Reminiscent of such classics as Solar Jetman, Asteroids, Gravitar, Oids, and Thrust, this cave flying game features highly realistic game physics.

Fuel orbs are guarded by tower-based plasma guns, mass-drivers, and laser beams. Fortunately, players have their own ship-mounted, plasma cannon to help blast their way through. Having successful escaped with a fuel orb, towing the fuel back to the surface is even trickier; a skilled pilot is needed. Orbs of different colors are used to trigger doors and other events; but players must exercise care, as these orbs are lighter and have a habit of spinning wildly. Eventually, players pilot their rocket ship through perilous and guarded caverns to the final prize, a massive orb of golden fuel. Then, they must make their escape by carefully hauling the orb back through some very tight spaces.

The game physics of Rocket Gold is particularly realistic. A capsule will on its own gently descend toward the Moon, captured by its gravitational pull. A short thrust will control the descent, while a longer one will send the capsule hurtling into space. Rotating the capsule slightly and then thrusting allows for horizontal movement, but players will find it takes a patient hand to repeatedly thrust and rotate and descend to safely attach and pick up a fuel orb. Once in tow, the player must navigate with his load in mind. Sudden acceleration may send the fuel orb rotating around the capsule.

Feature Highlights:
* Highly realistic gravity and rocket arcade game
* Dual thumb controllers for rotation, and weapon and thrust
* Smooth 60 frames per second on the iPhone 4/3GS or iPod touch 4
* Attack orb defenses and crash fuel orb into enemy installations
* Smooth controls allow delicate navigation of the rocket ship
* Anti-gravity levels for advanced gameplay
* Gameplay takes place on the surface of the Moon, through space, and on several planets
* Includes three part, interactive tutorial
* Perfect for fans of Solar Jetman, Asteroids, Gravitar, Oids, and Thrust

"Rocket Gold 2.0 is a major update, and now includes new: levels, graphics, sound, effects, background app support, and Game Center connectivity," stated independent developer Graham Perks. "Test your navigational skills at low gravity."

Pricing and Availability:
Rocket Gold 2.0 is $0.99 (USD) and available worldwide through the App Store in the Games category. Review copies are available upon request.
