Help Getting Started with Apple TV 1st Gen

I am really new to Apple TV, Jailbreaking and the like, but I did a ton of reasearch prior to purchasing my 1st Gen (already jailbroken with XBMC) but I am having a really hard time navigating and understanding how to actually use the device to get any enjoyment out of it. I can tell by just playing with it that there are a ton of possibilities once I get the hang of it, but I have spent literally hours clicking throught menus and skins trying to configure things but I am still really lost. Is there a guide out there that is simpler and easier for non-apple speak people? I have googled my brains out but everything I find seems to skip over stuff because it assumes that the person reading already knows the "easy" parts, but maybe there is a guide for "dummies" lol Any help would be super appreciated...or a push in the right direction would be great too. Thanks!
