Patch for atv2 to output from optical out w/o hdmi

I'm looking for a way to have atv2 output from optical out only without having HDMI connected or at least with tv turned off. I've read that this is possible with previous versions.
Is there a patch for nitotv or a jailbreak distribution that supports that? Or this is impossible?
