Parallels has launched Parallels Desktop 26, the newest version of its virtualization software for Mac. It rolls out on August 26, 2025, just ahead of Apple's big OS updates this fall, with support for macOS Tahoe 26 and Windows 11 25H2. The release also brings a refreshed design and new tools for both everyday users and IT admins.
The new version is fully optimized for macOS Tahoe 26 and includes visual updates to its Dock icon and other elements to match Apple's new Liquid Glass aesthetic. It's also been updated to handle the new restrictions on background processes in the upcoming OS, so features like Coherence mode and setup routines keep working the way you'd expect.
In a move that mirrors Apple's own recent branding shift, Parallels is simplifying its version names. Starting with this release, version numbers will match the year and macOS version they're built for, making upgrades easier to follow. Another notable change gives Windows virtual machines the ability to see a Mac's available disk space, helping prevent slowdowns and giving users more control over storage.
For business and IT teams, Parallels Desktop 26 has passed its latest SOC 2 Type II audit for enterprise-grade security. IT admins also get new Jamf Pro tools to track and manage Windows OS updates inside virtual machines, along with fresh documentation on deploying single Windows apps without rolling out the full desktop.
Looking ahead, a new Parallels Desktop Enterprise Management Portal will launch soon, letting admins set granular rules for things like shared folders, USB access, and clipboard sharing. Centralized VM configuration management is also on the way, giving IT teams more control when users spin up new virtual machines.
Parallels Desktop 26 is available now with a 14-day free trial at the link below.
