Google Revamps Snapseed With First Major Update in Years

Google has rolled out a major update to its popular photo editing app, Snapseed, bumping it to version 3.0 on iOS. This marks the app's first major redesign in several years.

The most noticeable change is a new home screen that shows your previously edited photos in a grid. To start a new project, you just tap the floating plus button at the bottom, which opens your photo library. The app icon has also been refreshed with a more modern, simplified look.




Inside the editor, navigation is now organized into three tabs at the bottom: Looks, Faves, and Tools. The new Faves tab lets you save your most-used tools for quick access. Tools still houses the full suite of editing features, and the Export button has moved to the top right.

When editing, a new arc-style controller appears at the bottom for adjusting values — though you can still swipe left and right directly on the photo. The vertical swipe for switching between tool parameters like Brightness and Contrast is still there too.



The update also brings new film filters to expand your creative options, along with some bug fixes for a smoother experience.


Snapseed continues to offer over 25 tools and filters, including RAW development, selective editing with Control Points, Healing, and Curves. Edits remain non-destructive, and you can still save custom looks to reuse on other photos.

Snapseed 3.0 is available now for iPhone and iPad on the App Store. It's free to use and ad-free.
