Health management features will be a key selling point for future AirPods models, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a recent post, Kuo says that Goertek has secured the NPI (New Product Introduction) for the 2026 AirPods model and predicts that AirPods shipments will rebound from 2024.
Following the success of the Apple Watch, AirPods are being repositioned to focus on health management, with future models integrating more health management features. This strategic positioning is expected to drive AirPods shipments from approximately 48 million units in 2023 to 53–55 million in 2024, 58–62 million in 2025, and 65–68 million in 2026. Goertek is positioned to secure the NPI for the new 2026 AirPods model and serve as the primary supplier.
Apple has already started integrating health features into AirPods. The recent iOS 18.1 update introduced hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2, including a Hearing Test, Hearing Aid functionality, and Hearing Protection.
Future models could push these health features even further, potentially incorporating body temperature or heart rate sensors; however, there's no indication yet that these upgrades are imminent.
