Apple's next generation iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to gain support for Wi-Fi 7, according to a new DigiTimes report.
Broadband network companies are silently awaiting Wi-Fi 7 to take off on end-user devices, especially with AI PCs and Apple's high-end iPhone 16 models in the second half of 2024 leading to increased momentum in 2025.
Notably, this corroborates a previous report from Haitong Intl Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu. Back in January, Pu claimed that the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models will support Wi-Fi 7, while standard iPhone 16 models will support Wi-Fi 6E.
The Wi-Fi 7 wireless standard offers significantly higher data rates, wider bandwidth utilization, improved multi-link operation, and better efficiency in high-density environments compared to Wi-Fi 6E. Pu believes that the iPhone 16 Pro may get support for WiFi 7 with an integrated WiFi 7 + Bluetooth + Ultra-wideband solution.
