Apple to Add LG as Supplier of OLED Screens for iPhone SE 4 [Report]

Apple is adding LG Display as a secondary supplier of OLED screens for the iPhone SE 4, according to a new report from TheElec. Currently, BOE is the sole vendor of iPhone SE screens.
Next year, BOE will be the primary vendor while LG Display, as a secondary vendor, will provide the screens mostly for its legacy models, sources said. The iPhone SE series mostly uses reused parts from other legacy iPhone models. However, it always comes with a relatively new application processor to perform superior to rival phones in its price range. Apple launches the model in emerging markets like India.
The introduction of a secondary supplier may be due to previously reported production issues at BOE. Adding LG as a supplier allows Apple to mitigate risks and ensure a steady supply of OLED screens, while also potentially improving production efficiency and cost management.
The site claims that the iPhone SE 4 will use the same OLED panel as the iPhone 13. Notably, this follows a recent rumor that claims the iPhone SE 4 will use the same back cover as the iPhone 16.
There have been conflicting rumors on when the iPhone SE 4 will launch. Some predict the device will launch later this year, while others believe it will arrive in 2025. It could be one of two models that ditch Qualcomm's modem for Apple's first internally developed 5G modem.
