A video of basketball player LeBron James carrying what appears to be an unreleased Beats Pill speaker has been shared by the Los Angeles Lakers.
The video was posted to the Lakers' Instagram account ahead of the playoff game at the Ball Arena in Denver. Although captioned as 'Hoodie Bron.', the video shows James arriving to the stadium with a Beats Pill hanging from his right hand. The speaker is clearly branded with the Beats logo and has a lanyard that wasn't found on previous versions of the device.
The first Beats Pill speaker was introduced in 2012, following the brand's success in headphones. It featured a distinctive pill-shaped design and aimed produce clear, full-range sound that was robust for its size. After its acquisition of Beats, Apple introduced a new Beats Pill+ speaker in October 2015. That version was slightly larger with top-mounted volume controls and a Beats logo button. It also switched to Lightning from micro-USB.
It's unclear when Apple plans to release this new speaker, but a marketing leak to generate interest in the device suggests that it could arrive soon!
