The price is so high because it includes a minimum of 17.5% VAT (Value added tax) that infests all of Europe and that is what Obama is trying to impose here. it is muted that it will be a minimum of 15-20% on everything we buy, then our prices with be alot closer to those in Europe !!

I dunno if you never realised, but you already pay sales tax on everything you buy. The amount you will pay vaires from state to state in the US. :-(

Yes, of course I realise it. here in Florida it is 65 sales tax not 15%-20% which will be in addition to all other taxes as it will be a federal Tax, just in case you didn't realise it!!

All my observation ws from visiting the US and getting really furious about the sales tax... they wouldn't display the 'true' price until you were paying for it. I hated how they advertised a price and then would add the sales tax... grrrrr... Btw, I live in the UK... (thank God for that!)

Yes it is a bit of a pain not having the final price on a sales tag but that is sales tax. If you prefer to pay a hidden 17.5% instead of an open 6% so be it, thats your choice. Fortunately for me, I left UK nearly 40 years ago and now live in USa and will accept 6% not 17.%%

Yeah, 17.5% is a lot, but it's not really hidden... they show prices with and without VAT. But to get that VAT money back is kinda tricky. And who the heck with a sane mind would go live in the US??? LOL (*honestly joking) ;-)

Why it is so much more expensive in the UK? US$499 = £339 (Why are they charging £499???)

Yeh, it's a rip off, better to import from the USA or find a cheaper alternative on eBay and get it sent over as a gift.

In England is 429not 499 Pounds for the basic model. Anyway also in Italy and France is expensive: 499 Euro while in Spain is 479 euro. Now $499 are 395 Euro more than 100 euro up!! Incredible!!!

It's called export/import treaty, which puts taxes on things leaving or entering the country for selling purposes..
