iPhone 17 Pro to Get Upgraded 24MP Front Camera [Kuo]

The 2025 iPhone 17 Pro may be upgraded with a 24MP front camera, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a post late last night, Kuo said the new camera will significantly improve image quality and be supplied by Genius.

The front camera of the iPhone 17 will be upgraded to 24MP/6P lens (vs. the 12MP/5P lens of iPhone 15 & 16), which will significantly improve the image quality. Genius is the primary lens supplier for iPhone front cameras. As the unit price of the 6P lens is 100–120% higher than that of the 5P, it will contribute significantly to Genius' revenue of more than NT$3 billion and profit in 2H25.


Besides the obvious improvement in resolution, the six-element lens can improve image quality over a five-element lens by better correcting optical aberrations and enhancing sharpness, contrast, and light handling. Notably, the iPhone 17 Pro could also be the first to get under display Face ID.
