Photomator App Gets Full HDR Support, Advanced Editing Features for iPhone HDR Photos

Pixelmator has announced the launch of Photomator 3.2 for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, bringing full HDR support, a new smart HDR feature, and various other improvements to the photo editing app.

Photomator 3.2 is now available, bringing all-around HDR support for importing, editing and exporting HDR photos, including those captured with your iPhone. It also introduces a cutting-edge Smart HDR feature, letting you convert SDR photos to HDR and take advantage of the advanced HDR photo editing capabilities with any photo. We're thrilled to introduce HDR photo editing support on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, and bring you some amazing creative possibilities!

What's New In This Version:
Photomator 3.2 brings full HDR support, letting you enjoy outstanding contrast and true-to-life colors in photos, including those taken with iPhone, and introduces an advanced Smart HDR feature for effortlessly converting SDR photos to HDR.

Full HDR Support
• Unlock all-new creative workflows with full support for opening, editing, and sharing HDR photos, including photos taken with iPhone.
• The cutting-edge Smart HDR feature lets you convert SDR photos HDR and take advantage of HDR editing capabilities with any photo.
• Adjust colors, make selections, and use all other editing tools, including Repair, Denoise, and Super Resolution, with HDR photos, just as you would with any other photos.
• The advanced Levels, Curves, Selective Color, and LUT adjustments have received major updates to support the full HDR range.
• HDR edits are seamlessly synchronized with the Photos app, making it effortless to share stunning HDR photos with your family, friends, or clients.
• Open ISO HDR formats like HEIC, AVIF, JPEG XL, PNG, and TIFF, as well as other HDR formats, such as OpenEXR, Radiance HDR, and 32-bit TIFFs from Photoshop and Lightroom.
• Effortlessly work with RAW or ProRAW photos in HDR.
• When sharing HDR photos, export them in formats specifically designed to preserve HDR, such as HDR HEIC, HDR AVIF, HDR PNG, and HDR JPEG.
• In Photomator settings, you can select to always load photos in HDR, with the option to revert to SDR editing at any time.
• When you choose to always load HDR content, the HDR button will appear in the Photomator toolbar, letting you selectively enable or disable HDR in any photo.
• To work with HDR content in Photomator, your device must be running on iOS or iPadOS 17 and equipped with a compatible display.

iOS 17 Support
• Photomator is now fully compatible with and works great on iOS and iPadOS 17.
• Photomator now lets you open JPEG XL files on devices operating with iOS 17.

Other Improvements
• The enhanced Select Subject algorithm now offers a faster and more precise subject selection in photos.
• Thanks to improved color processing in RAW images, you can now recover even more detail in the highlights of RAW photos.
• With the addition of AVIF export support, Photomator now offers full compatibility with the AVIF file format.
• On iPhone models with the Dynamic Island, you'll always find the Cancel and Done buttons located at the top of the display when in editing mode.


Fixes in Version 3.2.1
• Photos would sometimes be displayed incorrectly when turning off Super Resolution. Fixed.
• Edits would sometimes not be saved when swiftly closing an edited photo and reopening it. Fixed.
• Photos would always be exported at their original size, even if a different scale setting was selected. Fixed.
